On 20 March 2025, Po Leung Kuk Wu Chung College crushed it in the T2R1 debate against Gertrude Simon Lutheran College, taking on the affirmative side of the motion: "This House Would ban those under 16 from using social media platforms." Our team line, "Social media is a loaded gun in the hands of teenagers," was our battle cry, and we owned it!
The first speaker, Abby Wong (4R), kicked things off with a fiery, heartfelt speech, explaining how this "smoking gun" blasts away at teenage mental health. She laid out our model with serious passion and got everyone hooked. Abby even took away Best Speaker for her wicked effort. Kudos! Next up, Aiden Wang (3R) stepped in and smashed the opposition’s arguments, diving into the risky, shady content teens stumble across online and showing how this loaded weapon causes real harm. Closing it out, Adrian Man (3S) brought the heat, firing back at the other side with clear rebuttals, delivering a sharp clash analysis, and wrapping up our case with a bang—proving social media’s a dangerous trigger for young people.
In the end, we scored an epic, uplifting win! Massive shoutout to Aiden and Adrian for jumping into new roles and slaying it. We can't wait for another chance to show our skills in the next debate. Watch this space!
