Term One Final Debate – First Runner-up

The Term One Final Debate between Po Leung Kuk Wu Chung College and Liu Po Shan Memorial College on 24th January 2025 was an eye-opening experience! It was a debate against some well-seasoned F.5 speakers at an unfamiliar school, so we felt pretty nervous about it. Nevertheless, we gave it our best, and despite being only a few points short of the championship, our team presented a coherent case and took home the first runner-up trophy, which we are super proud of.

Arguing against the motion, “This house regrets the rise of cancel culture”, our first speaker, Willard Charm (3R), explained its historical origin and how it empowers minority groups. The second speaker, Keira Liu (4S), further argued how it propels societal changes. The third speaker, Abby Wong (4R), skillfully analysed the clashes in the debate with three effective rebuttals.

This debate, a precious learning experience, has bolstered the sense of belonging within the team. With even better team spirit, we will continue growing strong to face the challenges ahead in Term Two. Stay tuned!
